Protocol and Codecs Update

After numerous testing sessions on our development platforms, we’ve decided to remove the following codecs: G723.1, G726, ilbc and alaw. We highly recommend that you use ulaw (PCMU / G711.U) or G729. If it’s not possible you can use gsm, but be aware that the system will do “codec transcoding” if you decide to go with gsm. If you are currently using g723, g726, ilbc or alaw, you should modify your configuration as soon as possible. We’ll remove codec translation by the middle of june. If the use of one of those codecs is imperative for you, contact our support and we’ll find a solution to fit your needs. We also have decided to remove H.323 support in order to concentrate our efforts on improving the stability and quality of the protocol used by the majority of our customers: SIP. Optional IAX2 remains supported and we have no plan of removing it.
