We now support Mail Waiting Indicator or MWI for short on sub accounts (Main account support soon). What is MWI? If supported by your device or software, when it registers to our server, it will also ask to “subscribe” to such notifications. Our system will look if the account you are registering to has a mailbox associated to it. If there’s one, when there’s new mail, our system will send “notifications” of this to your adapter via SIP Messages. Different adapters, sip phones and softphones manage this in different ways, such as stutter tone, Mail Icon, phone led etc. If you would like to use this feature, here are the steps to follow: – Mouse over to Sub Accounts tab – Click “Manage Sub Accounts” – Edit the sub account you want MWI notifications enabled. – Under “Internal Extension VoiceMail”, select the proper mailbox. – Apply changes Note that you might need to “reboot” adapter or reload softphone after sub account has been updated, for this feature to kick in immediately or you can simply wait a little and it will start working by itself. Also, the same mailbox can be selected for multiple sub accounts, and they will all receive the MWI notifications. ***** Virtual SIP numbers are similar to standard DID numbers. The major difference is that virtual SIP numbers are not accessible via “PSTN” or normal line. They can only be reached via “SIP URI” over internet. For example, if you have a DID number with another provider and they support SIP URI Forwarding, you could forward your number to a virtual number at voip.ms just like if it was one of our numbers. You can also dial these virtual numbers within our network. If you want to configure a Virtual SIP number, Go to “DID Numbers” tab, click “Order DIDs” and click on “Virtual SIP numbers”. If you have any questions and/or feedback concerning these new features, please contact us. We like to hear from you.
